✈️ Your Oceanic Documentation Package: Be Ready Before You Go A successful North Atlantic crossing starts with having the right information available before departure; not searching for it once you’re approaching the oceanic entry point. ICAO NAT Doc 007’s Sample Oceanic Checklist identifies several important flight-planning resources crews should have available and review, including: ✓ Master Flight Plan ✓ Current NAT Track Message ✓ Weather & SIGWX information ✓ Equal Time Points (ETPs) ✓ EDTO/ETOPS information, when applicable ✓ Plotting/Orientation Chart or appropriate EFB/Tablet solution ✓ NOTAMs and applicable navigation information But simply having the documents isn’t enough. The crew should understand the planned route, identify the oceanic entry and exit points, review nearby tracks, evaluate diversion options and make sure the information being used is current and consistent with the planned operation. Think of the oceanic documentation package as another layer of the aircraft’s safety system. Have it. Review it. Understand it. Because once you’re approaching the ocean, the time for preparation has already passed. ➡️ Next in the series: Plotting & Orientation with modern FMS and EFB technology, why does it still matter? This series is for educational purposes. Always follow your operator’s approved manuals, procedures and applicable authorizations. #MadDogGlobal #InternationalOperations #OceanicOperations #NATHLA #FlightPlanning #AviationSafety #BusinessAviation #NATDoc007
